POSITION SUMMARY


The Pricing Strategy team is dedicated to analyzing internal and external market conditions to guide enterprise-wide pricing strategy. This key role will develop holistic recommendations for enterprise pricing strategies related to competitive environment, changes in marketplace conditions, and wins/losses in various business segments. Supports cornerstone strategic RFPs to ensure best chance of success. Identifies opportunities using non-standard modeling approaches and rationale; Responsible for providing analysis outside of standard tools by evidence, rationale, and methodology. Interacts with cross-functional partners, senior leadership, and external consultants and clients around marketplace developments and potential new pricing models and strategies.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS




  • Consults with Sales, Underwriting and other key business partners on strategy, requirements, and unique pricing requests that are part of cornerstone strategic RFPs.




  • Reviews RFP post-mortem feedback to identify trends and outliers that may inform future strategies.




  • Reviews Competitor Intelligence (press releases & other publishing, news articles) with focus on potential future impacts to competitor approaches to the market.




  • Conducts / participates in Pricing Summits and strategy calls with consultants, both formal and informal. Build relationships and seeks to both provide and obtain actionable intelligence.




  • Reviews and considers alternative pricing models that will position Express Scripts better in the market; may involve direct work with consultants or other key partners.




  • Maintains models and creates analyses for key opportunities to determine expected pricing needed to win business; presents findings to underwriters & leadership.




  • Performs Case Studies on recent wins and losses to identify key drivers of outcome that may inform future pricing strategies.




  • Understands key model assumptions, potential impacts of new strategies or changing market conditions on the assumptions, and informs the organization of potential updates or enhancements.




  • Forms relationships at multiple levels and establishes trust. Ability to proficiently tailor message to specific audience.




  • Informs analytic resources around potential deep-dive analyses based on review of feedback, consultant and competitor intelligence, and general market dynamics.




  • Attends Pricing Committee meetings to provide strategic insights and capture key takeaways, ensuring new ideas and discussions brought up during the meetings are assimilated into ongoing pricing process and team is kept informed on developments in the meetings.




  • Manages and maintains consultant Roadmaps which capture consultant-specific strategies and key information for underwriting team to ensure bids through those consultants are optimized and consistent.




  • Work with Proposals team to improve and maintain both standard and non-standard RFP responses.




  • Supports Strategic Pricing Council, presenting new pricing strategies and providing strategic insights on other topics brought in front of the Council.




  • Can clearly communicate all financial metrics both to direct reports and Senior Management. Connects metrics to market results/dynamics, leading team and stakeholders to maintaining enterprise strategy. Develops new ways to utilize results for future insights.




  • Utilizes all available reporting to make informed decisions, understanding how market results are impacted. Connects metrics to market results/dynamics and uses meaningful data to drive market strategy. Can clearly communicate all metrics to both direct reports and Sr. Management.




  • Ability to lead discussions on strategic initiatives and growth opportunities. Drives cross functional level strategies. Anticipates potential changes and adjusts strategies accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS




  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or other related field.




  • 6+ years of extensive experience in Healthcare, Financial Analysis, or related area.




  • Strategic agility, influence management and matrix management skills.




  • Capacity to find alternatives and solutions as well as identify problems.




  • Excellent judgment, communication, interpersonal and organizational abilities.




  • Proven ability to engage and influence at all levels or the organizational structure.




  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships and establish a high level of credibility across functional lines of business and organizational levels.

This role is Flex/WFH which allows most work to be performed at home or on occasion at a Cigna office location. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.
