Legal Fellow, Corporate Attorney Job Description


Position Summary

This Legal Fellow, Corporate Attorney will provide legal counsel and advice to AutoZone and its subsidiaries to ensure its effective operation in accordance with federal, state and local laws; advises business partners on all aspects of commercial business transactions, including structure, key commercial terms and legal terms; answers questions and provides counsel on compliance needs; reviews and analyzes evolving laws and regulations affecting AutoZone's business; provides training to business partners on key areas of compliance. This is a 12-month term with potential for 12-month extension, subject to team needs.


Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements including licensing agreements, SaaS agreements, SLAs, and professional service agreements.

  • Counsel all levels of management as to the structure, legal conformance, risk, and approaches to commercial contracts and business transactions relating to AutoZone’s business.

  • Advise business partners on internal corporate policies and procedures.

  • Communicate and negotiate directly with vendors and their counsel on legal issues.

  • Collaborate effectively with business partners and other internal stakeholders, including finance, IT and procurement.

Position Skills and Requirements:


  • Juris Doctorate degree (JD).

  • No prior legal experience required.

  • A minimum of 3.00 GPA.

  • Letter of Reference from Law School Professor, Current or Former Supervisor or Community Leader.

  • Must have interest in learning about AutoZone’s business and customers.

  • Must be able to quickly process and analyze information and make decisions and solve problems.

  • Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing to both internal and external stakeholders and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Must be knowledgeable with using the full Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Able to rotate to a different team for Extension Term (Contracts; Litigation; Labor & Employment; Real Estate; or Compliance), subject to Department and team needs
