The Justice of the Peace Pro Tem will be responsible for the occasional hearing and determination of traffic, misdemeanor, civil and small claims cases, orders of protection, and injunctions against harassment hearings arising within the jurisdiction of the Justice Court, Page Precinct, in the absence of the elected Justice of the Peace. This position offers intellectual challenges to incumbents whether or not they have a law degree. The impartial administration of justice in a small community and where decisions can make major impacts on people's lives can be stressful.

The Superior Court Presiding Judge makes these appointments for not more than 12 months, at which time previously appointed at-will Judicial Officers such as Pro Tems, Commissioners, and Hearing Officers may be reappointed without competition.

The person(s) selected for this position must be of good moral character and a resident of this State for one year next preceding their taking office. Candidates shall also be qualified electors of the State for not less than one year next preceding his/her appointment.
