THE POSITION



The Opportunity:


Change Healthcare’s Legal and Compliance department is seeking an experienced and passionate healthcare compliance professional to join our company and help us build and maintain a world class healthcare compliance program that fosters trust in the integrity of our company. The individual filling this role will join a highly supportive, motivated and dynamic team responsible for fostering a culture of integrity, building and managing the TES Business Integrity Program, and providing strategic healthcare advisory and regulatory support to all TES business lines.

This position will serve as a forward thinking, strategic advisor for healthcare regulatory and compliance issues to TES Operations, Account Management, Sales and other cross-functional groups. This position will have visibility and exposure to all levels of management and will take a leading role fostering a values-based culture for a business with emerging opportunities and uniquely positioned to help transform the U.S. healthcare system.

The TES Healthcare Compliance Director will be supported by and work closely with the TES Chief Business Integrity and Responsibility Officer, other experiences professionals on the TES Business Integrity & Responsibility team, as well as with other subject matter experts in the Legal & Compliance department.

This position reports directly to the Chief Business Integrity and Responsibility Officer for Change Healthcare’s TES business unit. The position is located in Atlanta, Georgia, Alpharetta, Georgia or remote.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Oversee and support continuous improvement of the TES Business Integrity and Responsibility Program to reach and maintain standard of excellence status in healthcare, including:

    • Assist in the development, review, dissemination, training and maintenance of TES compliance policies and procedures, in coordination with the TES Chief Business Integrity and Responsibility Officer, the TES Legal Department, and TES Operations

    • Oversee, direct, deliver and monitor delivery of general and job specific compliance training and orientation to all employees and applicable business associates

    • Receive, document, track, research, investigate and take appropriate and timely action on all reports concerning compliance incidents identified through a variety of sources

    • Support risk assessments, compliance audits, and corrective action plans in response to identified TES compliance investigation, auditing and monitoring findings

    • Support the preparation and delivery of reports into the TES Chief Business Integrity and Responsibility Officer, TES Managing Senior Counsel, Change Chief Compliance Officer, Change General Counsel, members of TES senior management, and where necessary, the Change Board of Directors


  • Conduct research and provide guidance on a variety of healthcare regulatory and compliance matters pertinent to TES business line activities, including billing, coding, reimbursement services, patient engagement and payment liability management, among other areas

  • Manage or participate in projects involving multiple stakeholders through to completion in a timely, efficient, and collaborative fashion

  • Reinforce and strengthen relationships of trust within TES, with healthcare compliance personnel working for TES customers, and with other healthcare system stakeholders

  • Occasional travel to company and customer facilities


THE INDIVIDUAL

  • Can identify and prioritize healthcare compliance risks generally, and specifically within businesses where coding, billing and reimbursement services are being provided to healthcare providers.

  • Possesses the ability to research, audit and monitor complex healthcare compliance issues.

  • Prepares presentations for and presents to senior leaders, as applicable.

  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of business units, products, strategy, operational models and risks.

  • Applies sound judgment and makes decisions which are supportable and appropriate given the available information.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

  • Pays meticulous attention to detail and regularly verifies work product and conclusions are well supported and accurate.

  • Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to articulate ideas, thoughts, and information in a logical manner and sequence to summarize issues clearly and succinctly.

  • Demonstrates the interpersonal skills necessary to interact collaboratively and productively with a diverse staff.

  • Possesses the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


Minimum Requirements:


  • 5 to 7 years of healthcare compliance experience, including supporting the development and management of a healthcare compliance program and providing strategic compliance advice
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in health care payment, reimbursement, and billing matters
  • HCCA Certification in Health Care Compliance preferred

  • CPC, AAPC or AHIMA coding certification preferred


Critical Skills:


  • Demonstrated experience researching, analyzing, and applying a broad range of healthcare regulatory requirements, including but not limited to:

    • Fraud, Waste and Abuse laws and regulations

    • Federal and state laws and regulations related to healthcare billing activities

    • HIPAA and stated privacy laws

    • Federal and state laws and regulations impacting physician practices and hospital operations

  • Demonstrated experience performing annual risk assessments and the development, execution, and oversight of a healthcare compliance program, including policy & procedure development and training

  • Experience, knowledge, and interest in healthcare provider and/or healthcare payer administrative, financial, and operational activities

  • Eagerness and motivation to broaden expertise into other areas of healthcare, including pharmacy benefits and consumer payments

Education:


  • Bachelor’s Degree with excellent academic credentials required

  • Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school preferred



How much should I expect to travel?


Less than 10%.
