The Office of Residence Life is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Hall Director.  This individual will provide primary leadership for two residential areas of approximately 400 students and supervision of a staff of Resident Assistants.  Additionally, the Hall Director will advise Residence Hall Association representatives, develop and oversee retention initiatives, and provide duty coverage for the campus.  This candidate will work directly with an area that currently houses Fraternity and Sorority Life members and student-athletes and could offer support to various aspects of the Office of Greek Life.

Primary Responsibilities



  • Supervise 12-17 undergraduate student staff members, which may include a Senior Resident Assistant

  • Coordinate the development and evaluation of student staff

  • Assist with the coordination of student staff selection and training

  • Develop an inclusive, academically supportive community

  • Create intentional efforts to interact with students and provide opportunities for student growth and development

  • Advise Residence Hall Association representatives for halls

  • Adjudicate violations of housing policies

  • Manage hall facilities, budget, and occupancy

  • Assist staff in assessing student needs and provide educational and social programs to effectively meet those needs

  • Participate in crisis management and emergency response for hall and campus

  • Initiate and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, family members, and external constituents in a multicultural environment

  • Serve as a University spokesperson at campus events

  • Bachelor's degree, Master's Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Counseling or other field is a plus

  • Knowledge of or experience as a hall supervisor, with campus leadership, or Greek Life

  • Demonstrated understanding of and a strong commitment to the development of students and residence hall communities

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and take initiative beyond general job expectations

  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated innovative approaches in problem-solving

  • Demonstrated experience developing programming on a college campus

  • Experience working with the Microsoft Office suite or other computer programs

  • Experience advising student organizations or working with academic support initiatives

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service

  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
