What you will have an opportunity to do:


The Director of Housekeeping plays an integral role in ensuring that each of our guests have exceptional stay experience with their guest rooms. The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for positive guest and employee interactions in a friendly and efficient manner. They must be knowledgeable on inventory/supplies, directing multiple employees at once, scheduling/staffing needs, and being cost efficient. Director of Housekeeping is responsible for their staff providing positive guest interactions in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, the expectation is to be attentive to both our Guests' and employee's needs, making them feel welcomed and cared for.

BASIC FUNCTION: The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for directing all aspects of housekeeping services, resort environmental sanitation programming including but not limited to operations, planning, budgeting, inventory control, training, staffing and payroll. The Director of Housekeeping also works in establishing standards of service for cleanliness, safety and sanitation for the resort and interprets those standards to employees through education, training, practice, evaluations and auditing.


  • Develops, implements, and monitors programs that assure a safe facility and work environment that is in compliance with all appropriate regulations. Attends safety training programs and in-service education as required.

  • Assign, train and direct the staff to carry out the basic program as set up and design such to give the maximum efficiency in performance, maintaining the policies and standards of the property.

  • Fiscal and budgetary management of housekeeping operations including creating and maintaining departmental budgets, forecasts, and financial reports as needed; reviewing and approving purchases for the department.

  • Prepare an annual budget outline for capital expenditures for the Housekeeping Department.

  • Oversees inventory system for supplies and equipment and establish reorder levels through requisition system and Purchasing Department; ensures housekeeping activity and physical areas stocked, organized and are compliant with all safety and environmental health processes, procedures and regulations.

  • Ensures the proper maintenance of all equipment; makes arrangements for repair and/or replacement of used and damaged equipment. Keeps repair records for equipment.

  • Maintain records of linen usage and compare to occupancy levels. Review linen inventory and oversee laundry operations.

  • Test and evaluate cleaning supplies and equipment.

  • Meet with vendors and contractors to learn about new products and services offered.

  • Establish and supervise system of controls to ensure that maximum standards of service are maintained.

  • Maintain guest rooms and public areas in a clean, comfortable and saleable condition, including heart of the house areas.

  • Maintain a room history journal-detailing inventory, major maintenance and repairs, renovations and general cleaning.

  • Investigate discrepancies in reporting. Conduct investigative actions with guests, where necessary, for guest service and liability claims, ensure customer requests are handled in a timely and professional manner

  • Consult and collaborate with Director of Rooms regarding cross-functional teams in order to support department and resort operations.

  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to motivate diverse groups, overcome challenges with compassion and a positive attitude.

  • Remain alert, courteous and helpful to guests at all times.


  • Required to perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

  • Scheduled hours may vary on business needs and may or may not include holidays, weekends, various shifts, overtime or reduced hours.

What are we looking for?


  • High school diploma or equivalent business experience.

  • Four-year college degree preferred.

  • Three years managing large housekeeping department preferred.

  • Five years hotel / resort experience preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)

  • Previous experience with housekeeping software programs.

  • Aptitude to quickly learn and work efficiently with software programs.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Command of the English language both spoken and written.

  • Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.

  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals.

The right person will show housekeeping skills, be informative on laundry operations, must be passionate about cleaning, providing excellent customer service, and should thoroughly enjoy creating excellent experiences for our customers. The ideal candidate will also have a friendly, outgoing disposition and previous experience working as a Director of Housekeeping in a bustling, fast-paced, (seasonal) resort setting.
