Fulfills a key role in the planning, execution and closure of product development projects leading to the development, commercialization and industrialization of new and improved LAN products, in accordance with ISO 9001 and Leviton Network Solutions processes.


  • Design and develop new and/or improved LAN cables. Maintain expert understanding of the effect of cable design and process parameters on cable's electrical response.

  • Participate and/or lead product development projects.

  • Develop and maintain a high proficiency in the effect of cable and cabling performance parameters on overall digital systems performance.

  • Provide technical support to the Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Assurance and Sales departments

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of materials and processes utilized in the manufacture of products in the cable industry.

  • Develop procedures and equipment specifications consistent with state-of-the-art electronic characterization of electronic cable employed in digital applications.

  • Prepare periodic project and activity reports indicating progress of projects relative to plan. Prepares and delivers presentations to management on projects and R&D efforts as directed or assigned.

  • Provide accurate review of customer specifications and input in the generation of product / purchase specifications.

  • Conduct industry studies and competitive analyses within the industry to ensure Leviton Network Solutions remains at competitive level in the cable industry.

  • Accomplish the established objectives in areas of safety, quality, cost, delivery, and environment.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Polymer or Plastics Engineering required

  • Experience or internship in a manufacturing environment preferred

  • Previous plastic and polymer extrusion experience or education preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional, multicultural team environment and to understand and apply technical concepts.

  • Functional knowledge of electronic test equipment used in the development and production of LAN cable products.

  • Ability to utilize experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is afforded with little reliance on direct supervision.

  • Solid experience in statistical principals, software programming and tools, product development processes, verification and validation techniques.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • Have a winning attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
